Yes could be a weak battery as once they go under 12.5v the ignition will start playing games and shutting down so you need good charged batteries.
You have to keep them charged or they will start failing and may not recharge correctly.
You could connect a quick connect fitting to the battery that will give you more power to start like race cars use and have seen it done before !
