JTKM engine question - please help

I know engines are not an exact science but can someone tell me how we could have run the centre crank bearing when:

series 4 clutched engine has done 5 hours since full re-build by a genuinely reputable engine builder, revs on the day were around 15,800, oil fuel mix was right (285ml to 5l), carb setting were 2.25 low, just open high

I just want to understand if there is anything obvious so I don't do it again!
