Well, to be fair not quite Ł500, but still a lot more than I want to spend!

That would be ideal, testing with another box. I would have done this if I had one. I haven't acutally got the kart completely assembled and up and running yet and I live in very rural Perthsire, so taking it to the track just to try someone's box isn't very practical at the moment, but it may be my only option.

Ideally, I'd find an old box of no use to anyone that I could get cheap just to help with isolating the problem.

However, thanks for the earting suggestion with the coil. I shall check this!
