The only reason a manufacturer changes a product is to make more profit. They can do this by selling more products, or charging more for the product.

They have no interest in whether the change improved the product or not. They are only interested in people believing it has improved the product.
This is why you cannot believe a manufactures claims.

Otk have recently demonstrated their clever marketing.
People buy sticker kits on branding or aesthetics. So to try and increase sales otk produced wind tunnel tested, aerodynamic sticker kits. Although most people will see that it will have no performance gain, and see it as a gimmick, they will still buy it for branding or aesthetic reasons as before. However some people will believe it must offer a performance advantage and buy it for that reason. So they sell more product.
