Bottom end is correct side movement ,one way to tell is discolour in bearing,but the hours on it can give a idea as when they go it can be major.
Piston you measure the clearance accurately and if worn too much/replace as well as bearing. The longer it is run the more it works and wears and can do damage if not monitored.
You can do way more hours in practise than racing by a long way also.
