Motors TV broadcasts, even of things like World Superbikes has never been as good as, say, Sky Sports. Even though I grade the picture with adjustments using broadcast filters and scopes, I have never been happy that the picture you view on TV is as supplied on tape. I think it has something to do with the bandwidths, but I'm not up on the technical aspects of the broadcasts. I know what you mean though. I'm hoping an HD film, downconverted, will look better.

We will be filming in HD, but as stated, it will be downconverted to SD for broadcast, as Motors TV is not tx'd in HD. The DVD's will also be SD, and POSSIBLY available at some point as a blue-ray version, but that is only playable in a Playstation 3 or blue-ray player. The downconverted film should offer some additional quality even in an SD DVD, as the picture resolution is being downscaled to fit a smaller canvas.
