With a small engine, the best way to store it is to reduce the humidity to below 15%, use a preservative oil and seal the engine in a vacuum bag. Then keep the engine at a constant temperature.

You can use a small dehumidifier in a 'tent' to get the humidity down, then put the engine in a plastic bag and suck out the air with a vaccuum cleaner. Then put the whole thing inside a cover to prevent UV sunlight getting at it. That should keep it for a century or so.

It's the same principle as storing aircraft in the desert, the low humidity stops things from deteriorating and the lack of an electrolyte reduces dissimilar metals corrosion.
