The kart is not homologated which obviously saves on costs - the lack of chrome is a saving but the blackened effect on the bars looks fine with the grey paintwork and black pods so isnt really an issue. The alu components are all from previous year intrepid karts that are mass produced by skm - intrepids parent company there machines run 24/7 knocking out thousands of them! There is no fancy embroided steering wheel (this could easily be bought seperately) and there is no sticker on the floortray (which up until recently for yrs we have not had so is not a necessity) The rest of the kart bodywork and stickers all looks as good as anything out there already! If it was a £1000 more noone would even be having this disscusion as for sure the kart does not look £1400 cheaper made than anything else!
A lot of people are missing the point about the kart and asking how it compares etc if u want an otk, crg, intrepid, birel etc go ahead, but when new they will cost up to or more than twice the price of a storm, with most karts costing new £2400-2700+vat even second hand fetching 1500-1900. The question is are they 1100-1400 better? Having worked with most karts and worked on the storm and seen what it can acheive my personal opinion no way! Would i run one at S1- sure! But there is a network of dealers so call them and test one to see for urself!
A brand new kart is not always an option for club racers due to high costs and massive losses after a year! Now club racers have an option for a new kart at the price of a used kart for other makes!
With grids depleting around the country due to current economic climate and kart prices at an all time high! This kart can be bought with an engine for £3000 +vat making it a fantastic value for newcomers to get bums back in the seat at our clubs! To buy any other brand new with an engine is more like £4500 - 5000 u can buy a new road car for that!
