No. The point is that if you lock the back wheels and the engine idle isn't set right, the clutch will disengage and the engine could stall. I raced a clutched TKM for 2 years and, by setting up the idle speed when the engine is warm, you will have very little trouble. My son's BT82's have all been clutched, although most of the time we used them as DD. If the track conditions were wet, I simply put on the clutch, as he always felt more confident racing in wet conditions with the clutch, knowing that a spin wouldn't totally wreck his race. Having a clutched engine gives you more options.
