I agree with Itpro's comments about head and body movement in a kart changing weight distribution, but being comftable in a kart is a load of tosh to me! afterall how long on average during a race are you in the kart seat for? 6 mins? how long can you sit in a packed train or in your car for whilst being uncomftable and still concerntrate on what you are doing?
In my view seat position is not only a personal thing but also a track thing too.
People drive diferently, some lean into corners, some lean out to gain/loose grip. some people are harder on initial turn on the wheel and others use the brake to get the kart into a corner whilst being smoother on the wheel.
Some tracks like rye require the weight to be moved forward due to the requirement of front end initial turn in and release out of corners, while some like Wigan, requires less turn in and the seat placed further back for traction and to be seated lower/tipped in the kart for speed up the straight.
Start with the maunfactures guidelines and go from there with a open mind!
Long and short of it is TEST!
