hi there

firstly i am a relative newbie compared to others on here but here are my thoughts.

1 ideally you dont really want to be idling the engine anyway so i guess that this shouldnt be too much of a problem. if you really want to sort it have a look at two things. fuel and carb. if fuel is ok the it could be a carb problem. on my 'beast' the engine nearly always cuts out when left idling or when i come into pitlane and it doesnt really worry me. also if you watch a some rotax dummy grids you may find that all is silent until the gate marshall gives the start your engines call. at dunks we usually start and drive off in one go so idling isnt a problem.

2 if its releasing oil then i would guess that the exhaust isnt sealing properly. you want to try and position the exhaust to get the best seal. this will improve performance and will help keep the noise down as well. you need a good seal to get more backpressure in the exhaust which helps the power valve. once thats sorted get some high temperature sealant and place a bead around the edge of the exhaust lip. this will help even more.

3 if someone has fiddled with your red adjuster then that needs to be reset. to do this get out onto the track and you need the power valve to kick in at 7500. this is a compromise and aims to give better bottom end along with good top end power

also read the power valve and carb article on this site

again this is from my limited knowledge other may disagree and prove me wrong

cheers

adrian
