Also, forgot to ask,

Is it advisable to use Wurth high temp sealant on the exhaust manifold joint to get a good seal or is this more hassle than it's worth/too extreme

Finally - I seem to have a fair amount of very dark oily deposit blowing across my engine housing from the power valve when run. I'm guessing this is not ideal and not that normal. does something need sorting?
