Yes a water temp sensor and gauge is definately worth having and can help you tell if there is a problem.
Water coolant RC20 is awesome and does a great job.
Not sure what your rules are on additive but most rules say they must not have Glycol in it as it is slippery if spilt on the track.
Type mychron ,is one a combines all ,revs,splits,temp etc and they are good.
