In their day the motors cost Ł1000 basic plus tuning. Rebuilds every 1 hour, 2 hours if a 'safe' piston used. Cost in 2005 about Ł300 plus per rebuild & test running. Today worth probably Ł100 for a knackered one. The 3 jet Ibea ( or Hubschun)was the the carburetor of choice. The difference between an ICA and a Formula A motor was exhaust port timing. If you had one rebuilt with a 'safe' Parilla piston and kept revs. to around 17,000 max. it could well last 4 or more hours before performance declined. Loss of compression. Water temp. controlled by thermostat to around 50c. I have not seen these motors fitted with a cluctch system. At 20,000 rpm I would imagine the clutches would have balance and survivable issues.
Other than the costs of 3 to 4 motors a weekend them were the days.....
