I second the comments about club100 being an excellent series for arrive and drive .. don't under-estimate just how competetive it is either!

Everyone on this board seems to forget Easykart as an option. It sounds like it might suit you well:

Very Competetive
National Championship
Quick karts (comparable to rotax)
Heavyweight class
Cost controlled so it's very possible to be competetive on a tight budget (one that would hardly even get you going in Rotax)
It even has well set up and sensibly priced arrive and drive options where you buy the kart, but it is transported, prepared and run for you.
