It is difficult to get a perfect system. I prefer clubs that award points for heats as well as finals as that does reward consistent driving, It seems harsh for a driver to do well in the heats then get caught up in an incident in the final and get taken out and end up with low points. No problem with including visitors in the points so long as the rules are set at the start of the year. I doubt if many drivers would try and import friends for the last round - they would be very lucky to find ones who would just race for 2nd place and below - always seemed to me that friendship stops when racing starts. If you look at the points tables of clubs it is not unusual to find that half the drivers only compete in a few rounds during the year so they are not seriously competing for the championship but still take points from the ones that race every month. In some ways this is similar to the visitors taking points. If you expect to race at a club three or more times a year then it works out cheaper to be a member but you may have no chance of winning the championship but become a valid points taker.
