I run a small bead of 650 degree RTV sealant around the exhaust rim 24 hours before fitting to the engine. This helps make a gfood seal first time.

You may have a stiff point on the chain. This sometimes happen when they age. Check the tension as you wind it round by hand slowly. You should feel it change. If this is the case throw the chain. Failing that, just lube the chain. You can soak the chain in oil if it is stiff. Put some engine oil in a small bag, and leave the chain in for a while. Its alsoi a good way to keep them to stop them from rusting up etc..

Hope this helps....
