Yeah, the main reasons people have things dyno'd are:

1) Running engines in, saves them the hassle on the track.

2) Back-to-backing. They can test different carb/exhaust/engine/airbox combos to see what produces the most BHP in the SAME situation. i.e. the SAME dyno, with the SAME calibration, with the SAME (or similar) temperatures and other conditions.

Whilst none of the readings may be the true BHP reading, the comparative readings give them ideas of which combos go better with each other.
