If i engrave on the barrel and they put a new barrel on, how would i know if its still the same motor (but with a new barrel)?

And i know i cant do anything myself, as everyone knows the are sealed and can only be rebuit by someone who is allowed to rebuild them and re seal them.

But i thought that the whole point of these engines was that no matter how its set up inside, its how its set up outside i.e. gearing, powervalve setting, jetting etc etc that makes the whole difference?

So basically if two engines had exactly the same gearing, jetting etc and one had been rebuilt with everything aligned 'perfectly' it would run better and/or faster? I hope all engines are rebuilt to this standard
