Rotax are in a no win situataion here? At every track we are always aware of the £8k motors, in every class pretty much? So the people with a huge disposable income will always buy what is perceived to be the best?
In every form of manufacturing there is generally a varied level of tolerences, in the Rotax class we should all know this with the differing levels of engine, some have great engines and some have Ok and an unlucky few have right pigs?
So a manufacturer decides to try and respond to what "most" competitors want, a more level playing field, lets be realistic and accept that in motorsport there will NEVER be a complete level playing field? So the margin between a top engine and poor engine narrows greatly and consistently, I for one welcome this massively for the club racers and for a chance that possibly talent not money can shine through a little more.
Hopefully this is what everyone wants, apart from the lucky few with great engines?
Now to get there everything has to be agreed in terms of pricing, approvals, supply etc.. and with any tightly run sport this has to go through several levels and all apsects considered, and hopefully that is now in place.
I know plenty of people with absolute poor engines who cannot wait to spent a relatively small amount of money to now get these engines to be competitive, surely this is a good thing?
Just a little more patience :-)
