it reduces the squish, hence helping to increase the performance. if you use synthetic oil this will take an awfull lot longer to reproduce the same amount of carbon build up, whilst wearing out the engine.

I know people who after a rebuild swear by running in and then using 25ltrs of fuel (with caster) to build up the carbon and then go bck to normal syntheyic mix.

I must say that the people who i know do this all have fast motors...
