You might want to check this Scrutineers' Bulletin and print it off to show it to the scrute...seems like a lot of them aren't up to scratch with their knowledge on the subject. Here's a direct quote from the bulletin -

"Kart Suits.
A reminder that CIK homologated overalls that have expired are still acceptable for use in National events – provided
they are a post 1997 homologation. "
