OK, it is now established beyond doubt by several of the most-reliable tuners that the new 09 barrels are better for Junior Rotax and the same for Senior. Whoopeedoo.
So for a Junior Rotax entrant that is now an extra £800+ per motor on the year's budget. That's £250 for the new clutch plus £550 inc parts for the new barrel. Plus Labour, let's say £1,000 per Junior motor JUST to continue in 2009. So that's £1,000 per motor. Most have at least two motors. Do the math. Nice work Rotax, thanks for that. What utter nonsense, 'an affordable class'. Affordable for who? Ron Dennis perhaps? I suggest a general revolt against allowing these motors in this year, bringing them into use in late May, as JAG is currently suggesting, would be the worst possible solution. Unless you're Rotax or an engine tuner, and even they may be running away from such a large sudden panic workload. Where is the national series grid going to find an extra £150,000-200,000 between them in one month's time. The quiet mid-winter is the only sensible time ever to introduce major new performance-changing parts. It's common sense, spelt $en$e.
