John - Thanks for advice - but the 3.6 / 60 / 60 8.5 is what it started with but his brother pinched that one for his Junior motor !
So - He's stuck with this old 12.5 for now!
We drove today at PFI and I bought a 30 idle jet and a 142 main and put them in after the first session - much better - ran clean without four stroking, and the plug was a nice light biscuit colour, plus he was at last more-or-less matching others speed on the straights (not fast out of corners yet) - so - question answered through testing - just as it should be!
