That is interesting... the only thing I changed for this practice day from the previous one (where everything was fine) was to replace the piece of fuel pipe that goes from the catch tank to the fuel tank, as it had a split in the end.

So, perhaps this split was intentional to achieve the venting you describe? If I make a hole in the tank lid is there any risk of crap getting in?
