Grandad - YES. I've got four brilliant granddaughters. Daddio - Crikey, I thought that was a word certainly lost in the annals of time. You must be nearly as old as me!!
As you say – “some people are stupid enough to care SO much that they fit a SPOILER to their helmet, ……… as though ANY of those make you FASTER!”
You are totally right, if it is a case of “keeping up with the Jones’s” and out to impress. However, in the case of the laser thing, it was purely a decision to use a product that suited our needs. i.e. made things easier, as we perceived. It was not because we saw someone else using that product and thought it was a MUST have. It was just something that we thought might save us some time and was worth investing in. Certainly NOT bling. That is your interpretation. The fact that we chose to use that product has, basically, got nothing to do with you or your apparently Luddite attitude. It’s a bit like the bane of the “modern” world, the mobile phone. In the 1980s they were seen as bling, even though that word hadn’t been thought of. I bet you have one now and probably deem it a necessary part of your life! They are not mandatory, or even desirable. But the fact that you have, or have not, has got nothing to do with me and does not even interest me.
Anyway, at the start of this thread it was a query about chain contact with sprockets and someone asking for advice / help. You asked for clarification and, before you could respond, someone mentioned a laser alignment tool. This obviously “got your goat” and then the traditional tirade started. Someone suggested something that did not conform to the Itpro standard and is therefore wrong. No doubt you will advocate that people should always use Microsnot SQL Server over MySQL or ProgeSQL or Oracle or even post-relational databases, because that is what you know. “Get with the MODERN world.... grandad! (Daddio!)”
