I've tried this on a spreadsheet but cannot meet all the "rules" at once!
With a 10 tooth front and 80 tooth rear then the effective diameter of the rear is 255mm - to increase the distance between the centres to more than this figure means that it is 33 chain pitches (outside the 20-30 range suggested for uneven loading).

Strange thing is using large sprocket + small sprocket + 10 gives 26 chain pitches (200mm between centres) within the range - so which is correct?

I'm confused!!
