Get down to your local track on a practice day and talk to any of the drivers/mechanics there. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Most karters are more than happy to help newcomers like yourself, it's in our best interests to help you get started. If you can, go and spectate at a race day, or even better, offer your help to one of the drivers. Somebody will always need help lifting the kart off the trolley etc. You will learn more in that day than any amount of explanation on here.
