You can use the ordinary 12v battery used to power a UPS / mobility scooter / onboard starter, they will crank out over 100 Amps, enough to get a kart started.

Or any small vehicle type battery. (Lead Acid)

With a mobility Scooter type battery you have about 10-12 Amphour...which is enough to keep you going all day unless you spend prolonged periods cranking the engine (ie: get the petrol to the carb first, and if the engine needs choking, choke it properly).

There really isn't or shouldn't be a need to crank out car starting type amps in excess of 300 justr to start a kart.
