This weekend sees a rule change for 177 VETS, and the introduction of a new ICC class. For 2009, 177 VETS are not to be limited to drivers over 85Kg's - but the overall weight must still be 177 Kg's with drivers being 40 years old.
An 'ICC Gents Challenge' is also being run from January at HKRC. This is for drivers over 35, and with an additional 5Kg's added to the overall weight, totalling 185Kg's, a white line will be used under the normal white number on green plate. There is no minimum driver weight requirement. This is in partnership with Andy Fairless Racing. More details are on the news section of the HKRC web site.
The 177 VETS change has come about to allow the slightly older Rotax driver (who is not also heavier in stature) to join this emerging class. The introduction of the new ICC class has been made in response to increasingly competitive ICC grids; but also recognising and encouraging the slightly 'more mature' racers among us to join the ICC ranks.
Thoughts on these welcome......
