The reasons TKM /2 has remained popular for so long are reliability and cost. Reliability was down to the design and cost down to supply and demand. Haven't you noticed that over the years BT82s have been getting progressively cheaper ? That's because the number of people racing them has declined, but yet the number of motors out there has continued to increase... they've been accumulating for nigh on 20 years.

The cost of buying a new TaG BT82 will be significantly more than the cost of race-ready standard motor and that will rule it out as a power plant for the cost conscious racer. For those who have a bit more to spend, and want TaG, then you're best off going Max. Grids aren't suffering there and there won't be a debate over people using different spec. motors.
