74.50mm is the base setting.

I used to have several valves set at different lengths, from 73.50, 74.00, 74.50, 75.00.

Long was used on shorter circuits to keep the low down power on longer and short was used on long flowing circuits where you're on the power.

I have run as short as 72.50 and we set a lap record at Whilton on a very hot day at that setting, hardly off the throttle.

Different lengths worked for us, some might poo poo it.
