I can only say what we have found from our own experience.
I am not 'for' or 'against' any motor or class. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.
What I just don't see is any 'big' X30 motors. I think the fiche is just too tight for that.
We all know there are many variables in setting up a kart. For X30, Motor/Carb/Exhaust/Gearing being one group of elements, Camber/Castor/Tyre Quality/Tyre Pressure etc being another. And of course the huge variable that is the driver.
If you get them all right, you will be fast and can win races. That's not easy, but it is not money alone that allows you to do that. The biggest factor (in my opinion) is time and preparation. And of course skill and experience both in the person setting the kart up and the driver.
My lad races the top national and European lads when they come to our local tracks. Barring disaster, we regularly come top 3 or 4 in Heats and Finals and have identical lap times to the fastest.
We have track knowledge advantage, they have more overall racing experience. So it pretty much evens itself out. It has taken us over 5 years to get there but it is really rewarding now that we have.
They don't have a power advantage, and we don't have 'monster' motors. I just spend absolutely ages and work bloody hard making sure everything is right. They can maybe afford to pay someone to do a lot of the work that I do, but it is not money that has made the difference - it is time and effort.
Our 'race' motor is just over 20 hours old from new. It has had one piston change and a big end cage. It now needs another piston.
We have a brand new motor 'off the shelf' which is now 3 hours old. It is a tenth off our race motor - with everything else around it right. And I'm confident in another hour or so it will be just as fast.
Of course there are some that cheat, and it is up to the 'authorities' to catch them. It is a particular pet hate of mine that not enough is done here, but that's another thread!
And there are some who are fortunate to have the budget to pay for strong kit & preparation. But that's life!
I'm not calling anyone a liar, but I really think it is just too easy to suggest it is only cheats or millionaires winning races.
