My X30 engine has done thirty and a half hours. I have found it very reliable. Costs for the engine itself Ł850. Costs for the Carb Ł150. Costs for the Coil and Loom Ł0. Starter motor, one change of brushes only. Radiator Ł40. Tyres at least one new set a race.
Problems were the piston having a hole blown through the piston head twice. On advice from Iame I made some changes and so far so good.
So, just for the engine the costs were Ł34 an hour. All karts use tyres, slicks or wets, depending on weather and tracks.
Now the engine is at the engine builder having the conrod changed just for safety sake. Nothing wrong with it but better safe than sorry. The piston after 4 hours is in mint condition.
For me X30 is the best engine, most enjoyable, easy to take care of and not very expensive.
