On the side of the carb you will see a circle with a nuber in it like 00 14 or 09 to denote the year.

The 12.5 or 8.5 just senotes the venturi type.

Barrels are a bit different as they have a bit of an indecipherable method that can be something like PL or 08 in a circle but if you get the engine number you can phone JAG and get the engine year but you will need the barrel info too, as it could have been changed.
