Here's my observation:
Cadet driving standards need to be improved, when you watch old footage of Hamilton etc. there's nowhere near the loading and contact we see now, racing was fast but mainly clean.
Now, every rolling start sees the whole grid so loaded many are spat out on the start straight before the race has really started. Plus the whole loading people into corners during the race, forcing through gaps that don't exist etc.
When you talk to other parents, many don't like this but don't speak out bacause of others with the "toughen up, it's part of racing!" Attitude.
Kart racing should be non-contact, yes touching and scraping but it should be deliberate heavy contact. Anyone who races cadet, will tell you that currently it is a contact sport and the msa need to get a grip of this as the behaviour travels up through the classes as cadet move on. Cadet should be about instilling good driving standards and conduct before moving to other faster classes.
It is entirely wrong that drivers should expect to replace bodywork and need chassis re-jigged or bent axles replaced several time a season but in some classes/series it's just become expected.
Motorsport is dangerous and contact/accidents will always be part of it, I just think the msa has let standards slip from where they used to be!
