New motors will vary slightly due to mass production variation. Having raced and rebuilt the very similar IAME Linx and Maxi engine for 12 years i know for a fact that many slower engines can be made into quick front runner engines if: Rebuilt correctly, critical is bore clearance, cylindricty and finish. Bore honing is an art and very few have mastered this. Crank set up is also critical. Carburation, 10 mins on high or low can make a big difference, exhaust length, oil type and mix is also critical for optimal performance. Finally do not chase 16000 + rpm, use the power band with correct gearing to suit the circuit. Take all these point into account and you can get a good box stock engine, the rest is down to the driver, however you will always have those who modify out side the fiche in a need to get that quicker engine.
