Racingjase, I haven't used my X30 yet as I've only just fettled my kart before using it for the first time. As for reliability, that doesn't bother me so longs as I keep on top of the basic maintenance then I know it'll run and run as I'm a mechanic and engine builder by trade. Giving my karts a couple of hours look over after using them for the day makes sure I keep on top of anything that may go wrong and I belove this is something very few people do in the karting world. I think most users use the kart, smash them over kerbs to gain a few hundredths and then pack them away until the next time they use them only to find them full of faults and the blaming the kart...
As for difference in motors, I found a light year in difference in rotax max. My mates ex S1 max would leave me for dead after corners and even more so on the straight and I would say my max wasn't the slowest either and then someone else I know with a max would leave my mates ex S1 max in the twisty section because it was all bottom end... 3 seconds a lap quicker and 7 seconds faster than mine... Rotax really is the worst engine I've come across for drivability and parity.
I can't wait to get this X30 out to see the look on the rotax boys faces when I turn up, adjust the carb and go for a few laps and then readjust and that's it... None of this jetting up, weather station and jet charts ect...
