Seriously, this is a classic example of what goes on in karting.
Not enough people question the advice they are given. You should ALWAYS ask:-
1) What is their reason for saying XYZ? 2) Do they have any proof of what they say? 3) How the hell did they manage to GET this view and is it even possible for them to know?
For example, the bloke who has an ABC kart who tells you the PERFECT front axle width is DEF: do you believe they have tried all the OTHER axle widths with all the OTHER possible changes and can thus have any REASON to tell you it's DEF....... or is it more likely that the heard this from a third person who hasn't got a clue, either, and they are passing it on as 'gospel'..... and your adviser just believes them.... for no good reason?
Most of what you will be told in karting is utter CR*P. None of us really know which parts are 'true': the only way to 'know' is to try out various answers and see what happens. You'll then know what changing X on your kart actually 'does' and then YOU can tell others what actually works.... with 'proof'!
This is part of the great FUN of karting!
