I have an starter for use with a JICA motor. We used it to start the TKM (DD) (on the stand) as well.
It consists of a starter motor in a (red Alloy, two sided) 'box' with a projecting rotating shaft with a socket to engage with the TKM drive sprocket nut. It's got a 'tubular clutch' (shaft clutch?) on it which allows it to spin the engine until it starts and then the drive can 'disengage' when the engine is running.
My 'clutch' is no longer working (it slips).
1) What's the component usually called? 2) Can I dismantle it and rebuild it? 3) where can I buy as replacement? 4) how do I get the damned thing off the shaft? It only has 2 external grub screws (of different sized Allen socket)
Anyone got any ideas?
