When cold the motor may or could run up to 9000 WITH NO LOAD on a stand, but as soon as the motor warms up this will be about 3500 to 4000 rpm or whatever you set it to when hot. This 3500 rpm is about as slow as you can get a BT82 to tick over when hot without stalling. But trial and error is best. Takes only 3 minutes or less to test.

Of course for those who do not grasp the concept, if you set it to tick over at 9000 rpm when hot you can expect the kart to leave without you, hot or cold.
