I can see your point Nick.

I don't have a problem with the starters because when we ran Rotax, I always stripped the starters after every meeting and accepted is part of good maintenance.

Your early cars required constant fettling, whereas the modern car can go 100,000 miles between a service on some models.

Perhaps the modern man lacks the skills necessary to fully maintain some engines because they haven't progressed through life watching and working with practical people that they could learn from.
