Only one of the brushes exhibits a problem.

This is because it has to be isolated from the casework and that is done by using a flexible rubber isolator.

This results in the vibration from the engine causing the brush braid to fracture where it is attached to the terminal.

The new brush kit is better but not a cure, which means you really should be stripping the motor between each race meeting, I always did this with Rotax starters anyway and never had a failure on the dummy grid.
