Good info from Simon there.

Good earths are very important as any small resistance greatly amplifies the voltage drop that occurs on the secondary HT side of the coil.

The Max coil incorporates circuitry to control the advance curve and the green plug coil was introduced to improve the voltage in the 10,000 to 12,000 rpm range and eliminate the misfire that occured with some coils.

The electronics can cause problems but they are not repairable.

they usually exhibit any electronic fault when hot.

The plug caps do go high resistance occasionally.

Before blaming a coil, make sure the battery and the connectors are good.

There are dealers with coil testers and Nick at NJR New Kart (Rye House) has a bespoke unit.
