How does spray welding a head alter the port timing?
You can only influence the head profile or volume at that point.
Ports are covered and uncovered by the passing of the piston, the head has no influence on port timing.
If you wish to alter the port timing in relationship to the piston, you either machine the top of the piston and skirt or you machine the port openings and change the height of the liner within the barrel in relation to the piston.
Unless you go down the route of changing the conrod lengths or crank throw but then you have to alter a myriad of other things.
Now, having read that, you realise that doing things like that takes time, and time is money.
Can someone tell me why an engine rebuilder would carry out such work free, gratis and for nothing?
Philanthropic engineers of such generosity are few and far between, nay, nonexistent even.
