04 and before tend to be good, they say 98 are the best, but we have found 00 and 02 and 04 good. But our best was a 2012 - set up by supertune but talking to them more earlier carbs tend to be good compared to later carbs. A bit of dyno work showed a good carb does make a difference and a good carb will tend to be good on most rotax engines mini to junior to senior. 12.5 tends to be better for junior and senior and 8.5 for mini or junior and senior on tight twisty tracks. Good set up cleaniness is important on any carb. re jetting to suit atmospheric conditions works. don't spend a fortune on a carb without testing it back to back on the track with other known carbs using the same set of jets / floats carb to carb - so it's the carb body and venture you are testing and not the variable internal - varying main jets of the same number is another story all together!!! . £150 for a good / ok carb in good nick, £200 - £300 for something a bit special. loadsa money for a top carb - but only get this off of a race winning kart as it comes out of scrutineering - while the engine is still warm!! Once you fit a good one keep it and look after it, you don't need more than 2 or 3 carbs, you won't use them.
