Interesting this, basically it comes down to peoples attitudes, on the one hand you have loading and firing off in rolling starts as people think its acceptable to try and gain an advantage quickly over other competitors whatever the cost and now we have people moaning about bent cranks and broken clutches, why are they bent? Err well yes its being caused for the same reason - people trying to gain a quick advantage at the start whatever the cost.

Nobody forces you to rev the nuts off the motor with the brake on its purely your choice whereas visiting the tyre wall backwards at the start was very rarely your choice or doing.

At least this way those who want to blow stacks of cash on clutches etc to gain a 2 tenths quicker start can do so (even if they breakdown every 3rd race by doing this) at least now its only costing them their own equipment so no bystanders have to pay the price for their grab for glory as well.

You could ask all drivers to agree pre-race that they wouldn't follow this practice and everyone could just sit quietly on the grid, but lets face it that wouldn't happen, why? because someones team or dad will be willing to foot the repair costs to still try and gain an advantage.

And therein is the problem to all this - the win at any cost attitude.

I cant see this changing anytime soon, tracks are just full of delusional Hamilton wanabees and people with fat wallets wanting to buy the dream for them and that's whats destroying karting.
