The rules state that one has to be there to collect a trophy, though in fact where a person has a genuine reason for not being there and has explained and made the apology, the trophy has been supplied. However, they don't accept wanting to be at another race meeting as a 'good' reason.

So it would look as if there is more to the story than there first appears.

There have been cases where sponsors have turned up to presentations only to find that the winners haven't bothered to turn up and not made any explanation or apology.
