Sorry NJB but your view is wrong.
W3 have. Won racers this season at all national levels with motors that are no better and indeed not as good (on the dyno) as some of the customer rebuilds I have done using off the shelf cylinders and in one case an off the shelf motor.
To say you have no chance on winning with an off the shelf motor is simply untrue.
Every post on this forum these days seems eventually lead to Rotax being slagged off by someone. The basic fact that you need to understand without Rotax or whatever you think of it you would probably not have karting or many clubs around today. It has brought many into the sport who would never have even thought about starting with fragile or maintenance intensive classes we used to have.
