We had bad fuel on two occasions (Comer/Mini's). We found large bubbles of grey water in the fuel and the second time also had black bits.

(= Loss of power in both types of engine)

For peace of mind it's worth checking your fuel, even though it's after the event. But remember the water will be at the bottom in the dregs of the can.
